Why this manifesto matters

Organizations increasingly depend on analytics, automation, and AI to make important decisions. Yet access to information, technical execution, and established governance do not automatically demonstrate that a decision was based on appropriate, authorized, and defensible evidence.

The DACS Manifesto establishes the foundational doctrine of Defensible Analytics: organizations must be able to demonstrate why the evidence supporting a material decision was permitted for that use, under the conditions that existed at the time.

It calls for a shift from assumed trust to demonstrable decision accountability, where business meaning, identity, relationships, context, authority, and evidence can be tested and reconstructed.

What executives will gain from this manifesto

  • Understand the need for Defensible Analytics and why existing data, governance, and AI capabilities alone cannot establish decision accountability.
  • Recognize the importance of governed meaning, identity, and relationships when information influences material decisions.
  • Understand the role of evidence, authority, and decision Gates in establishing whether information is ready for its intended use.
  • Establish an executive commitment to decisions whose supporting evidence can be reviewed, challenged, and defended.

What this manifesto does not claim

The Manifesto is not a technical implementation guide or formal conformance specification. It establishes the principles and executive commitments behind Defensible Analytics without replacing existing governance, technology, or organizational responsibilities.
