Chapter 12 of 12

12. Closing guidance

Remediation makes a failed condition explicit, assigns accountable corrective work, and produces evidence for retest. When the condition cannot yet be corrected, the recorded Gate determines whether use is blocked or explicitly constrained.

A control that fails should create useful information. It should identify what is missing, who has authority to resolve it, what evidence must change, what use is permitted while the condition remains unresolved, and what must be retested before the result changes.

DACS defines control and evidence requirements for a stated decision scope. Accountable authorities own the obligation. Human, procedural, automated, or hybrid mechanisms execute the controls. Preserved evidence makes their results inspectable and supports decision-path reconstruction; rerunning an unavailable historical model is not required when the required contemporaneous evidence is complete.

Final operating rule

Actual handling follows the recorded Gate disposition. Keep every control’s evidence-backed result separate from permission for use. Later correction creates a linked new result; it does not overwrite the original failure. A handling or containment Pass does not establish full decision-scope conformance.
